Workshop 1: Understanding Solar Panels and Batteries

Our first Hot Topic Workshop was held in West Linton’s Village Centre, on 17th September 2024.

Sustainable West Linton and District’s Community Heat Team joined up with Home Energy Scotland, a free and impartial service to help households save energy and reduce their home carbon footprint.

Attendees heard from HES Technical Officer Dylan Rendall who spoke about solar panels, energy batteries, Home Energy Scotland’s home visit service, and the other tools and support available to help make homes greener and cheaper to run. 

Although there is limited funding available for solar and battery, Home Energy Scotland provided information about Scotland Government funding for a range of other home energy improvements. 

Dylan’s presentation was followed by local resident Adam Clarkson who gave us a personal case study, sharing his greener home journey, with the installation of solar panels and energy batteries.
